Hunting Idea

    Hello, my friend @PsychoWolf12 came up with the idea of this hunting, well, idea..


    So basically the idea is that when you attack/hit something first, no one else should be allowed to engage in that fight. She suggested that a little error notification should come up saying the prey was already being attacked, and that you should only be allowed to attack 5 animals tops via map, so can't claim everything that spawns. I suggested that the party and pack option in the game should be so that when the pack or party member attack, they can also follow the ambush. I also suggested that maybe when the item dropped it should only show for the pack/party, and they are not allowed to retrieve said item until every member has rolled (per say 1-50) and then the winner will get the item retrieval option unlocked. Let me know your thoughts. The reason why she didn't post this herself is because she is not comfortable posting via forums.

    Looks about right, it would flat out stop item stealers

    Might be a nightmare to code but I see no flaws in this system.

    Packs need more of a function than another version of party chat so being able to fight a boss with a pack would be great.

    Also that five prey at a time is good, so many times I had prey swarm me and that would help tone that down.

    But what if a whole pack wants to kill a piece of prey? And there should be a time limit on the claim. Let's say don't attack it for 15 minutes, then it will be open again and the claim will turn off

    Ok 1: If the pack attacks and they choose to back off, the prey will heal for full health, if the prey is at full health it should not be leased to that pack/party.

    1B : When the pack/party member dies, the prey will also heal, thus stopping it from being leased to that pack/party.

    And 2 : If the whole pack wanted to kill a huge boss, then for a quick result they should attack together, or strategize a plan. An example would be: 1, The leader of the pack engages with the prey, the rest follow. 2, The lower ranks attack first, or the less stocked heal players, when they start to get picked off, the rest gradually join in. Hope this clarifies things for you.

    That's a nice hunting system. It would stop prey and item thieves, but it doesn't look easy to code.

    I'm diggin' that pack idea~ Really gives a purpose to having one and would mean a lot to people if they were to hunt.

    The limit to people attacking a certain number of animals is nice, but not or me (being funny here~) [Man back in the day I would like attack every single goat, once got like 16 up on me and I killed all of them >: ) only 3 dropped though- dangnab goats >: o]

    Having items only show up for a small group though, i'm not sure if that is possible since any item dropped in I believe all IT servers every one can see it, but rolling for it is a good idea for those who want it specifically in the group that hunted for it~

    I do remember in LM they made some medals drop after an event, and you could only collect 1 per account/IP this idea seems possible, but hard. Although already a rule to not steal prey or items, it could prevent a lot, the pack just has to get a trustworthy leader. I also think the limit to attack the prey amount could differ on how many other players are in the same map as you? An example would be, if 2 players are in the same map, the prey would be limited to 10 each. But if there was 5 players in one map, it could differ to 6 each. If someone else arrives, the number shouldn't change/delete prey that has already been hit. But limit after the said amount of prey after the prey has died, without allowing anymore to be hit, so have a cap of the amount you can attack at once. If you understood that I'd be surprised because I suck at explaining things, thanks for the feed back. ^^

    LM goin' all out in events, it may be possible for groups to configure that in later down the road since the game is only in Alpha~ DoE may just some how make that work : O *shrug* ye never know~

    Personally not a huge fan of the prey limit, im a greedy butt munch u.u when it comes to collecting, but for those who have issues in the past towards item thieves it would make them feel a bit more safe when off getting items.

    The last part is a bit confusing, I get that when a certain amount comes into a map the limit to kill is locked for the players, but after that Prey shouldn't be gone when already killed? I am rather confused by this because the amount of prey should be different for when a new person arrives after a few people have been there already. They get to see rather new prey instead~

    Right maybe I wasn't clear, I've always seen the same prey as others when I arrive but that might just be a me thing. But I will still elaborate, when I stated that the more people in a map, should be less prey attack limit, and another join the map, then the limit is going to decrease. So instead of lowering the limit I'm while someone is already attacking the full amount of prey, the limit should only be applied once the prey that has been attacked is dead, and block any further contact with other prey till the limit goes back to the correct number.

    And example is:

    Someone attacks per say, 15 rabbits. Someone else joins the map, the limit is now down to 10 rabbits. That player cannot attack anymore rabbits till 5 rabbits are dead, instead of the rabbits just healing full health and leaving combat. Hopefully this clarified things, let me know if I've just confused you further. xD

    mhm mhm I see~ Though it would be a butt to program since I believe that most IT servers aren't quite implemented with this kind of way. Its kinda just "You enter, you see prey you kill and collect, other people come they see the prey, they also kill & collect, please don't take other peoples kills" and that is the gist of it. If there could some how be it where maybe just every one see's different spawns of prey/items it may work out. u.u
